Alura Orlov
Alura Orlov | 15 | Female | Cat | Heterosexual (?)
Adrian's older sister (one of them, anyway... their family is ridiculously large). Wants to be famous, doesn't care how. Hasn't seen Adrian since he ran away and doesn't know or care where he is. Bitchy and self-centered.

Bryce
Bryce | Young adult | Male | Wallaby | Heterosexual
Asshole ex-roommate of Chardonnay and Cayenne's. Sexist, casually homophobic, all-around jerk. Older than Cayenne but younger than Chards; he was held back a year in school and that's how he met Cayenne - they ended up in the same school year, he recognized the surname and decided to "befriend" Cay to try and get to Chards that way. Wants to get into Chardonnay's pants (or anyone else's, he's really not picky as long as they're female and "hot"). Somewhat short, self-conscious about this (height complex!). Dislikes having curly hair and really dislikes having long hair (well, longish), but the shorter his hair is, the curlier it gets, so he's resigned himself to having long hair in a "lesser of two evils" kind of way. ("Why doesn't he just straighten it?" Because he'd see that as a "girly" thing to do, of course.)
He doesn't really see Cayenne as a friend; he thinks Cayenne's a silly, girly little thing, and he mostly hangs out with him because, again, he wants to bang Cay's sister. That, and he feels taller/smarter when he's with Cay, since Cay is shorter and sort of naive.

Chortle Foley
Chortle Foley | 29 | Male | Cat | Heterosexual | Married to Keti
Chuckles' older brother, Titters' younger brother. Annoying, lazy jerk. Works as a telemarketer. Married to Keti, and they have a daughter together: Risita. Admittedly, he only married Keti because he knocked her up, but he does actually love her. Doesn't stop him from hitting on other girls, though. He doesn't really know Giggles, but he thinks she's cute and he usually hits on her any time he sees her (he hasn't really seen her since he moved out/married Keti, though). Tends to tease both of his brothers a lot - Chuckles is easy to fluster and Titters is a pushover in general, so it's easy for him to get a rise out of both of them.

Cyril Rennell
Cyril Rennell | Adult | Male | Cat | Married to Tuesday
Thursday's dad. He works the graveyard shift, so he usually sleeps during the day; on the rare occasions that he's awake then, he's generally very tired and out of it. Kind of a dork sometimes. He and Tuesday met in high school. Cyril was in a band at the time, and he asked her out through song... at school. The teachers didn't exactly appreciate this stunt, and he nearly got suspended because of it. Tuesday waited outside for Cyril while the headteacher decided what to do with him; eventually they decided to let him off with a warning. Tuesday was incredibly charmed by the whole thing (well, perhaps not so much the 'almost suspended' part), and the two have been together ever since. He was friends with Shigure in high school, but they drifted apart after that.

Dr. Montgomery Falderal
Montgomery Falderal | Adult | Male | Degu | Asexual
The scientist that created Cattail - one of them, anyway. His real name's Montgomery, but he hates his first name and goes by his surname (Falderal) instead. He and Malachai met in college and bonded over their mutual love for robotics and science; after graduating, they ended up working at Becquerel Labs together, and quickly set to work building a robot of their own. The relationship started to break down when it became clear that the two had different priorities/plans/etc for their robot - not just different, but conflicting. Falderal dreamed of robots that were sufficiently advanced and complex so as to be nigh-indistinguishable from regular people, whereas Malachai was thinking more along the lines of something from a silly/lighthearted mecha anime - fantastic and impractical.

At first, Fal tried to ignore this, wanting to remain professional and also not wanting to conflict with Malachai. Even though he frequently didn't understand the other scientist's mindset/views/etc, Fal really wanted to. He liked Malachai very, very much. Although he never really admitted it to himself, let alone to Malachai... at some point, Falderal had fallen in love with his friend.

As they continued to work on the robot (dubbed "Cattail" by Malachai, despite Falderal's protests that they should refrain from treating "the robot" as a person, lest they get attached), they continued to butt heads over what she should look like, etc, leading to Cattail having a very mismatched, patchwork appearance - reflecting her creators' differing opinions. The final straw was when Cattail's right arm - a ridiculous, impractically-designed thing - fell off minutes after she had first been activated. Fal had told Malachai over and over that it wouldn't work, but he'd still gone behind his back and done it anyway. In his mind, there was no longer any point in trying to make things work between them; he'd tried to be patient, to compromise, to understand Malachai's point of view, and things had still ended up like this. If Malachai wasn't going to try, then why should he. So he left. He hasn't seen or talked to Malachai, or anyone from the lab - including Cattail - since then.

Falderal is reticent, pedantic, and highly intelligent. He's sharp-minded, logical, and able to be very clinical and detached from his work. He didn't see Cattail as a person, because he couldn't; he knew that would compromise his ability to work on her. He's very realistic and unafraid to point out things he finds impractical or outright stupid. Fal is pretty socially awkward; he's fine at talking to people on a professional level, but he has no idea how to connect with others in more informal settings. He also tends to forget that others aren't necessarily going to know as much as he does, which doesn't help (i.e. he tends to come off as an annoying know-it-all). Falderal is completely disgusted and repulsed by anything even remotely sexual, and is easily flustered by anything along those lines.

Jun
Jerrica Ex Libris | 30s/40s | Female | Virginia Opossum | Asexual
A powerful witch, and Tracy's mentor. Mentored Satsuki back in the day. Violently opposed to love potions and charms of any kind, disgusted by anyone who tries to force others to be with them if they don't want to. Generally serene and patient, enjoys teaching others and mentoring them.

Jun
Jun | late 20s/early 30s (usually drawn as a teenager, around 15-19) | Male | Tiger | Bisexual
420's asshole ex-boyfriend. Jun is very confident: a natural leader. He's somewhat cocky and selfish, and is usually dismissive of other peoples' feelings. He'll do whatever he wants, and he doesn't really care what other people think of him. Jun's charming and charismatic (makes friends pretty easily). He's ambitious and pretty good at seeing things through, when he feels like it, at least. (For example, he could have done something productive in high school other than getting high and doing nothing most of the time, but he didn't really want to.)

Jun met 420 when they were both ~15. Jun was a stoner and the de facto leader of his group of friends (calling them 'friends' is being somewhat generous; really they just hung out and got high together, and didn't do much besides that), and 420 was a socially awkward loner who ran across him by chance. Jun thought the other cat seemed okay, plus he looked like he could really use some 'stress relief', so he invited him to hang out with the group later. Jun introduced him to drugs that night, and it wasn't long before 420 confessed to having a crush on him; Jun went with it because, hey, why not. 420 was there, he was willing, and he was pretty cute.

Jun has a very laissez-faire view on life; 9 times out of 10, he'll take whatever option is easiest. It was easy to start dating 420, and there was no reason not to, so he went with it. He'll let other people pick where to hang out, etc. That said, he's not afraid to voice his opinion; if he disagrees with something, he'll say it upfront. But if there's multiple options, and he's fine with any of them, it's easier to just let other people decide for him, right?

He doesn't sugarcoat things and can be pretty rude. He'll interrupt people, cut them off, openly tell them if they're irritating him/talking too much/etc (even if they're really not talking that much). He's got no patience for self-deprecation, or moping around, etc. He's very forward, particularly romantically, and has no issues with sleeping with someone the first night he's met them. (It should be noted that he's not a cheater: if he's dating someone, he's with them, not anyone else. Not to say he wouldn't break up with someone at the drop of a hat if he found someone else he liked better, cause he would, but he'd never cheat on anyone.) He's not that much into cuddling for long periods of time, etc, and frequently found 420's desire for physical closeness to be irritating. (He's fine with sitting close together, hugging sometimes, etc, he just found 420 sort of clingy.)

In general, Jun goes for whatever suits him best, at the time. He'll change his mind at the drop of a hat and break relationships as quickly as they started (whether they be romantic, platonic, whatever). This is how things ended with him and 420; after being together for several years, Jun just... got bored, and broke up with 420 via a phonecall. He hasn't seen him since.

Despite how it sounds, Jun actually did love 420, in his own way - he just didn't care for 420 as deeply as 420 cared for him. 420's very caring and concerned about the wellbeing, etc, of those he loves; Jun's a lot more... he thinks people can take care of themselves, basically. He'll break arguments, stand up for people he likes, etc (if he doesn't know them, or dislikes them, then they're on their own), but only if he actually sees a problem. (I.e. when 420 got his nickname, Jun didn't see an issue there, at all. He thought... well, 420 hates his real name, so why's he bitching about getting a nickname? Problem solved, right? Anyway, everyone's just having fun, 420's just overreacting. But, say, if someone was harrassing 420 and not letting up, Jun would've stepped in and told the other guy to knock it off.) He's generous with stuff (again, assuming he likes you, and by "stuff" I mean "drugs", generally. Although it has been seen in several fics that he'd freely share other stuff with people, too, i.e. food, drinks, etc) and can be nice - he's not always a jerk. Just usually. But yeah, he saw his relationship with 420 as being much more casual than 420 did, and that's why things eventually ended the way he did. He saw no problem at all in just dropping a long-standing relationship like that, didn't consider how 420 would react - as with pretty much everything he does, Jun just thought about how it'd affect him.

Dr. Malachai Spinner
Malachai Spinner | Adult (deceased) | Male | Insect | Unknown
The scientist that created Cattail (well, one of them, anyway) and Nettle. He met Falderal (who he often called "Fal") in college and they quickly bonded over their mutual love of robotics and science. After graduating, they both found jobs at Becquerel Labs, and started working on a robot together. It quickly became clear that they had conflicting ideas; where Falderal wanted to make highly-advanced androids, indistinguishable from normal people, Malachai had his heart set on making a fantastical mecha anime-style robot.

Malachai usually ignored Falderal's objections, or explanations as to why this or that wouldn't work, or would be impractical, etc; he knew Fal meant well, but he worried too much! Malachai was convinced that their robot was going to be awesome, and that Fal would come round eventually. He was sure that even if they disagreed now, they'd work things out sooner or later. Falderal was his best friend, after all! And although he wasn't completely certain, Malachai was pretty sure he'd fallen in love with him. He never really got round to bringing this up to Fal, though.

As work on the robot (dubbed "Cattail" by Malachai, who insisted they "couldn't keep calling her 'the robot' all the time") progressed, the two scientists argued more and more; it got to the point where if Falderal objected to something, more often than not, Malachai would just go behind his back and do it anyway. One of these things was Cattail's right arm; Malachai was convinced that the arm cannon he'd built would be perfect, even though Fal kept insisting that it was much too bulky and would be more of a hindrance to her than anything. He ended up being proven right shortly after Cattail was activated for the first time; the arm, far too heavy and with nothing to really support it, snapped off almost instantly.
Convinced that things would never change and that there was no point in trying to keep their relationship going any longer, Falderal resigned from his job, leaving Malachai alone with Cattail. He never saw Fal again, although not for lack of trying; he went over to his apartment multiple times, standing outside and pleading for him to come back. Falderal never opened the door, or returned his calls; Malachai was never sure if Fal was ignoring him, or if he had simply moved away.

Heartbroken over losing Falderal, and beginning to realize that maybe he had been right about some things, Malachai began working on a new robot - something less "giant robot" and more "advanced android", like Fal had wanted all along. Malachai was completely desperate for Fal to come back; he thought that perhaps if he did things his way, he'd forgive him and things would go back to the way they'd been before. He wasn't really thinking straight for most of the time by this point; his head was clouded by grief and regret, and also sickness. Malachai died not too long after the second robot, who he named Nettle, was activated. Before his death, he told Cattail over and over that she had to watch out for Nettle, that they had to stick together, no matter what.

Malachai was, in general, a very enthusiastic person with a lot of passion and drive for his hobbies/goals. Even though him and Falderal were almost complete opposites, he still loved him completely. While Fal was able to "switch off" and view things critically/objectively, or work on things without letting his personal feelings/emotions/etc get in the way, Malachai was... not. Despite Fal's warnings of "it's a robot, it may not even work", he became attached to Cattail very quickly. He felt things very strongly, so his failures, perceived or otherwise, affected him equally as strongly. He was also probably too sentimental and sensitive to be creating life. Malachai was highly intelligent and skilled; he was somewhat scatterbrained in comparison to Fal, but he certainly wasn't stupid. When working, he tended to scatter his work materials all over the place ("I know where everything is!"). After Falderal left, Malachai became withdrawn and depressed, consumed by guilt and regret over what had happened. He blamed himself entirely for what had happened, everything that had gone wrong - it was his fault that Falderal had left, his fault that Cattail had wound up a broken mess, that Nettle's eyes didn't work properly. He had a bad tendency to project his issues/regrets onto his creations, also; in his mind, Cattail was essentially every mistake he had ever made, given physical form. Not to say that he hated her, he just felt incredibly guilty and regretful about her. It was very important to him to make sure that neither of his creations ended up alone, like he had.

Malie Hoshikawa
Malie Hoshikawa | Young adult | Female | Cat
Tracy's older sister, avoids/ignores her. Blunt, supercilious, opinionated. Narcissist. Somewhat bigoted; homophobic. She doesn't like or approve of her sister's witchcraft.

Nefertiti
Nefertiti | Young adult | Female | Ferret | Ambiguously gay
A cute Egyptian scribe girl. Her best friend is Sparkle, although they don't see each other very often, due to living far away from one another. She's shy and easily flustered. Uncomfortable with being the center of attention, or talking about herself, in part because she's not used to it - because of her job, she usually just writes about everyone else. Nefertiti never really asked to be a scribe, she just sort of just ended up with the job (or perhaps she was forced to take it). But she doesn't mind too much. Occasionally the pharaoh she works for uses her as a messenger, or asks her to deliver things to far-off places, which is how she first met Sparkle.

Although she technically lives in the same universe/setting/whatever as them, Nefertiti doesn't really have anything to do with the rest of these characters. She's always just been a character that I draw occasionally for fun; she's not really a "serious" character.

Pat
Pat | Mid 20s | Male | Bear | Heterosexual | Dating Kimberly
Kaboom's ex-roommate. He knew her from high school; you couldn't really call them 'friends', she was just someone he hung out with. He's a generally nice person that's trying to do the best he can. He always felt kind of sorry for her - he didn't know much about the situation she was in, but he could tell her home life wasn't that great, and he thought maybe she just needed someone to reach out and give her a hand to get away from all of that. They moved to Felicitas City together, and it was... a mistake, basically. Pat adapted to his new situation very quickly, soon finding a job and settling into a routine, whereas Kaboom just holed up in her room all day. Any attempts he made at talking to her were quickly rebuffed. After a while of this, he grew tired and frustrated, mostly cause she wasn't contributing to the rent at all and he couldn't keep covering for her. He ended up finding a sounding board and friend in Kimberly, a girl he met at a bar, and spent the night with her; she was the first person he'd confided in about the awkward situation he'd gotten himself into, and she reminded him that, while it is nice and thoughtful of him to look out for someone else... he had to think about himself, too. Armed with this thought, he realized that there was really only one thing he could do, and he went home and told Kaboom she had a week to find somewhere else to live. They haven't seen each other since she moved out.

Pat did and does feel bad about what happened between him and Kaboom, but he also really didn't have any other choice. He's someone that just wants the best resolution for any given situation, but is also aware that that's not always possible (or the best outcome isn't necessarily the happiest/nicest one, etc). He's pretty mature. Tries to keep calm whenever things get tense; usually polite, tries to be considerate, etc.

In high school, he was an edgy punk/goth kid (although he was still pretty much the same then as he is now... just with more eyeliner, lol). He eventually got tired of dressing like that/dyeing his fringe black/etc and started going for a more neutral look.

Salazar
Salazar | ..Older than Selke idk man | Male | Selkie | Single, uninterested
Selke's older cousin. Salazar is a sanctimonious know-it-all and kind of a jerk. Self-righteous, somewhat condescending. He's a well-intentioned extremist: while he always has the best of intentions, he goes too far with them, and he rarely considers others' feelings. In Salazar's eyes, the law, authority figures, etc, are always in the right and must be followed no matter what. He values "doing what's right" over anything else - he's the kind of person that'll get someone into trouble if they do something "wrong", no matter how minor or trivial, and think "they need to get over it, they have to follow the rules just like everyone else does". (I.e. he's a tattletale, basically.) He won't let the rules slide for anyone, even family members. It's for their own good, or so he says.

Salazar works as a guard, patrolling the underwater city he lives in and making sure nothing goes awry. The city has laws against interacting with 'land-dwellers' (and god forbid you even think of bringing one home with you), and he's determined to uphold the law, no matter what. He's very, very proud of his job and takes it extremely seriously; he'll bring it up at any available opportunity, always quick to remind people "I am a Royal Guard, and I know what's best".

He really does love his cousin, and he wants to keep her safe. He sees her as his responsibility (his parents, or someone, told him to "look out for her" when they were kids, and he took them very seriously) - he's overprotective of her. He cares about her very deeply, but he doesn't trust her to make her own decisions about things - he can't understand that she's capable of deciding what's right or wrong for herself. (He doesn't realize he's like this.) It's not that he thinks she's stupid, or anything like that, it's just that he always thinks he knows better, because he's older, he's a city guard, this is his job, she's just a silly little kid who needs to listen to her cousin already. And if he happens to hurt her feelings by doing this, well, she'll learn from her mistake and realize she was in the wrong to begin with.

Satsuki Kisaragi
Satsuki Kisaragi (née Cantrip) | Adult | Female | Long-eared Jerboa | Pansexual | something something Shigure something
Hazuki's mother. She's a witch. She left Shigure and Hazuki shortly after Hazuki was born, although no one's really sure why she left, or what happened to her. Where she is now, if she's even still alive - no one knows.
Satsuki is very loving and caring; she adores Shigure and Hazuki and deeply regretted leaving them. She's very good with herbs and plants.
Apprenticed under Jerrica as a young witch, and also had a huge crush on her (although she never confessed or anything).

Shigure Kisaragi
Shigure Kisaragi | Adult (deceased) | Male | Long-eared Jerboa | uhhhhhhh Satsuki (were they married? I dunno)
Hazuki's dad, who died fairly recently. His lover, Satsuki, disappeared when Hazuki was still a baby; he never really got over her. Not that he was always sad about it, or anything - he'd moved on with his life, but he'd never have wanted anyone else. Him and Hazuki were very close.
Shigure was generally nice but somewhat boring and milquetoast-y; not someone you'd necessarily want to hang out with for long periods of time.

Snapdragon
Snapdragon | Probably a bit older than Foxglove | Male | Cat (Scottish Fold)
One of Foxglove's many ex-boyfriends. They dated for a few weeks, then broke apart after he asked her why she acted the way she did, if she was really happy with this sort of life. She was left confused and unsure of herself, and the two drifted apart at that point; he hasn't seen her since. (He needs developing... I'm not sure what his motivations are, what makes him act the way he does.)

Titters Foley
Titters Foley | 31 | Male | Cat | Heterosexual | Single, uninterested
Chortle and Chuckles' older brother. He's a doctor. Successful, but also a total pushover. Hardworking (to the point of being a workaholic), quiet (stumbles over his words), socially awkward and impulsive. Tries to keep Chortle in line, without much success. Cares a lot about what others think of him (in a climbing-the-social-ladder sort of way) and tries very hard to avoid confrontations - he'd rather let everyone walk all over him than ask them to stop. He's the sort of person to say "They'll probably get tired and stop it eventually, I don't want to start a fight, I mean, we work together, what if it made things awkward?". Gets along well with Chuckles, though they're a bit distant with each other.

Tuesday Rennell
Tuesday Rennell | Adult | Female | Cat | Married to Cyril
Thursday's mother. She's often mistaken for being younger than she actually is; she's the same age as Cyril, she just looks youthful. (Not to say that she looks like a teenager... it's just that, were Thursday older, her and Tuesday would easily pass for sisters instead of mother and daughter.) She's a little ditzy and naive sometimes, but she means well. Tuesday freaks out somewhat easily.
Her and Cyril met in high school; Cyril was in a band at the time, and he asked her out by singing. While the school didn't exactly appreciate his performance, Tuesday did, and they've been together ever since.

Windsor
Windsor | Young adult | Male | Otter | Heterosexual (?)
Kaboom's roommate. College student, studies game design. Makes video game mods (usually creepypastas), likes scaring people. Foulmouthed, crass sense of humour, friendly but can be difficult to get along with (you basically either love him or hate him). Thoughtless sometimes. Likes challenges. Has rich parents. He doesn't really know much about Kaboom; he mostly leaves her alone, but sometimes he tries to chat to her (or spook her).
