Human form, she had
In Crescent City
She showed me her pity
Lucky me

In a storm, so bad
The worst of the autumn
She came from the bottom of the sea

Please won't you stay a while
Give me your coat
Then we'll fall in love in my boat
You'll be my selkie bride

Please give me no denial
A promise I give
I'll forsake the life that I live
Now you're by my side

If you return again,
I'll be the saddest man
My lips will burn your skin
If you return again
Please don't return again
Please don't return again
Please don't return again, oh

Human form, she had
In Crescent City
She showed me her pity
Lucky me

On that day, so sad
Breezy and sunny
She melted like honey in the sea

(Written description coming eventually, notes for now.)

- Selkie; a seal-like mercreature that can shed its skin on land and take on a humanoid form. ("Humanoid" since she's... not human, she's.. some kind of anthro, idk. So in her case she just grows legs. lol, I'm playing fast and loose with mythology here, yeah.) They tend to keep to themselves as a rule, but Selke is the token curious-about-the-world-above type, and tends to wander around on land whenever possible.
- Her shirt is made from fishnets stolen from docks and fisherman's boats. When on land, she ties her selkie skin around her waist, to try and prevent it from being stolen; if anyone were to take her skin, she would belong to the skin owner until and unless she retrieved her skin.
- Secretive about where she comes from. Occasionally talks to 'land-dwellers', as she calls them, but she usually runs away if they ask too many questions.
- Has an older cousin, Salazar, who she grew up alongside; he tends to act more like an older brother than anything. He's a sanctimonious, know-it-all jerk who's overprotective of Selke (I imagine his parents or someone told him to "look out for her" when they were kids and he took it very seriously); he does love her and really does want to keep her safe and out of trouble, but he goes about it in entirely the wrong way. Also he happens to guard the city they live in, and thus tends to value "what's right" over Selke's feelings. Selke is never really sure how to feel about him. She loves him because he's a family member, but he tends to prioritize "what's right" over her feelings.
- Can shift between three forms: anthro, 'mermaid' and quad (seal-ish type form). She's usually in mer-form and is only rarely in quad.
- She lives in an underwater city (kingdom, thing) that's mostly inhabited by selkies. It's very closed-off from the outside world, and generally mistrustful of 'land-dwellers'; the city has laws against interacting with such people.
