into Day 8: Thursday 06 July 2023
New York to London
We arrived back at Newark Liberty International Airport and went through customs all over again. They handled things much better here than at Heathrow; the customs staff were a lot calmer, and there were actually signs up telling you what to put in the big boxes separately and such.
No big scary men took us aside before we could get on the plane this time (yay!), so we were in our seats by around 9:15 pm (NY time).
This was a different kind of plane and had a different entertainment system with different movies, including, you guessed it, all three Back to the Future movies! ^_^ Of course we couldn't resist watching them!
I settled down with some Starbursts and enjoyed the flight. We watched the first two films over the next few hours, skipping Part III as there wasn't enough time to watch it all before we landed.
At around 11 pm NY time (4 am UK time) they started serving the in-flight meals. Mew had a nice pasta meal, which I didn't take a photo of, because do you have any idea how long it takes to get pasta out of fur?? :P
After a long flight, we were back on UK soil at 10 am (UK time). Well, almost... we had to wait on the steps down from the plane for about 10-15 minutes, until a bus arrived to take us back to the airport itself.
Here's a photo I took of the plane, before the bus set off. That big tunnel thing is what we were waiting in before the bus arrived.
After more messing around at Heathrow Airport (that place is like a maze, very disorganized too), we were finally able to get on a tube, and then a train, to take us back home...
My family were all waiting for me when I got back. I missed them all so much!!!
After lots of hugs, I rushed upstairs and collapsed into my bed, falling into a deep sleep to dream about my big adventure. It had been a long, loooong day....
